Irma Hagerty Connor
June 16, 1924 - July 12, 2013
Mrs. Irma Hagerty Connor of Easton, MD, formerly of Centreville, died at Easton Memorial Hospital on Friday, July 12, 2013. She was 89.
Born June 16, 1924, in Elsmere, DE, she was the daughter of the late, Josiah H. and Laura Hollingsworth Hagerty. Following her graduation from Kennett Consolidated High School, Kennett Square, PA in 1943, she attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. On June 20, 1945, she married William J. Connor, Sr., from Kennett Square, PA. In 1946, they moved to Centreville and purchased the Sunset Pharmacy which then became the Connor’s Pharmacy which they owned and operated until September 1978. Mr. Connor died January 26, 1979.
She was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was past president and member of the Queen Anne’s County Garden Club and also did volunteer work at the Easton Memorial Hospital for 25 years.
Mrs. Connor is survived by a son, Joseph Maris Connor, Sr., and wife, Bonnie Bach. of Centreville, MD; a daughter, Jacquelyn Connor Steuerman and husband, Kenneth of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Lewis Maris Hagerty of Middletown, DE; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Connor Godbey, Kara Jean Connor, Joseph Maris Connor, Jr., John William Connor, Laura Elizabeth Steuerman, Robert Maris Steuerman, Anna O’Malley Steuerman and Benjamin Josiah Steuerman; four great –grandchildren, Olivia Ryan Hensley, Connor Thomas Hensley, Rufus Hoopes Godbey and Maris Leigh Godbey. She was pre-deceased by son William Joseph Connor, Jr. daughter Jeraldine Anne Connor, grandson William Jacob Steuerman, and brother, Ralph L. Hagerty.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11AM Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Centreville.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Queenstown, MD, following the Mass.
